Happy New Year, everyone!
2026 marks 20 years since I first published an album under my own name. “Crepúsculo” (Twilight), a spontaneous recording edited on Merzbau. That summer of 2006, my grandmother gave me a piano. Although I had taken lessons as a child, I had abandoned the instrument for about 10 years. In an interview with Bodyspace, I recall the moment I received the piano. “It was a Wednesday morning. I was sleeping, as is my custom, for hours on end; it’s one of the things I enjoy most in life. And there was a knock on my door. My mother had warned me to listen for the doorbell because someone was coming to deliver something. And when I opened the door, still cursing whoever had woken me up, they said: ‘Is this the seventh left? We’ve come to deliver a piano.’ Everything hit me at that moment, and the man must have noticed my bewilderment and asked if my grandmother didn’t give piano lessons, that she wanted to give me a piano as a gift. At the time, it was a huge weight on my shoulders.” Because I realized the importance of the offer, but over time that pressure dissipated and it became something natural. Just another tool to express my ideas. Having a piano in my room turned out to be a huge stimulus. The pieces started to come out naturally through improvisations, to which I added some field recordings and experiments with drones and loops. Anyone who is curious can listen to the EP on my Bandcamp page.
